Personal Description:
With 20+ years of experience fostering joyful yet demanding learning environments, my focus has always been on empowering students. I embrace challenge and lead with heart and believe all students, of all abilities, deserve to feel seen, thoughtfully taught and supported.
Tutoring Experience:
I'm new to Victoria, having recently bought a house here and with 25 years of experience teaching across the English Studies and Social Studies curriculum in BC, I bring a wealth of experience that is hard to find in a contract tutor. I am also a trained IB teacher. I have created exam-prep courses for Open School BC and have built courses for online schools. And was recently a teacher-librarian at Glenlyon Norfolk School. And, now, I am excited to offer my services as a tutor! I can work online or travel to your home and I am happy to host students in my home, as well.
Tutoring Approach:
Whether you’re writing your first high school essay, or overwhelmed by your homework, or preparing for exams, or struggling with the challenges of IB or AP course work, or even tackling university-level research papers, I can help you gain confidence, learn step-by-step strategies for writing and researching and aim to overall improve your skills so that you can move forward on your own strengths.
I also support students for whom English is an additional language, focusing on clarity, structure, and developing your authentic academic voice.
For all my students, my approach is encouraging, practical, and tailored to your needs.
Let’s make writing and homework less stressful and maybe even enjoyable!
