I am 26 years old and live at home with my fiancè who is also a teacher. I studied for six years across college and university to become a teacher, therefore I am very enthusiastic about gaining new experiences in this field. I am a huge Disney fan and love bringing fun to my classroom and any environment I work in. I believe it is important to first build strong positive relationships with children before expecting them to share their abilities with you.
I have worked as a full time primary teacher for two years and have gained a wide range of experiences across different schools in this time. In my first year I had a Primary 2/3 class which came with a breadth of behavioural and academic challenges. In my second year, I worked across three different schools; one of which was a class within a Learning and Communication Support (LCSC) Unit. I administered specialised maths support in two mainstream schools and taught a Primary 6/7 class within the LCSC. During this year I not only gained experiences which have made me a stronger educator but I developed resilience and adaptability greatly which is something I can now take forward into new environments.
I have a soft approach but believe it is important for children to be aware of boundaries and expectations from early on in our relationship. I consider it important that children know I am there to help and support them as best as I can and that I will encourage them where they are unable to motivate themselves. Creating a safe space for learning is an essential part of my teaching as I believe no child can grow in ability and confidence in a place they do not feel calm.
