I am a third-year undergraduate studying a maths-heavy Economics course at the University of Cambridge; I took my GCSEs and A-Levels at Westminster School, achieving straight A* in 11 GCSEs and 4 A-Levels (Maths, Further Maths, Economics, History). Outside of academics, I enjoy theatre, am a keen percussionist and am captain of my Badminton Team.
I have experience tutoring both in person and online, in History, Maths and Economics A-Levels & GCSEs, and have proven track records of top-grade students.
My approach is to, by the start of the lesson, have questions they have struggled with on the topic or over the past week, and to use those in conjunction with my questions of varying difficulty depending on the student's ability.
We will start with a quick warm-up of bulletpoints or quick questions, before I explain a new concept, or extension to existing ones, to the student, constantly engaging them as we go along, working through examples together.
After this, I will then set them certain questions to do in the lesson, then mark and go through them. At the end I will try to have a fun quiz or game, before a quick summary of the topics covered, before setting a few questions as homework for the next week.
Over time, this should help build both the student's understanding and speed & accuracy at answering questions, such that nearer the exam they should have no problems with past papers, the more difficult questions of which we can go through during our sessions.
