Online Physics and Chemistry Tutor

Hi! My name is Adam and I am a second-year medical student at Downing College, University of Cambridge, wishing to demonstrate my passion for my subjects through teaching others.

During the medicine course, I have studied modules such as physiology, immunology, and biochemistry very extensively, as well as having a lot of practical experience in the laboratory. The pre-clinical, science-focussed part of the Cambridge medical course has greatly deepened my insight into the GCSE and A-Level courses. In my first year exams, I obtained a first-class mark and was elected to the title of scholar within my college - I also have high grades in the respective qualifications that I teach (Biology 9/A*, Chemistry 9/A*, Physics 8/A).

Originally I am from Nottinghamshire, and as a fun fact, I am a self-taught DJ performing live at venues :).

Tutoring Experience

Throughout my time at my sixth-form college, I was a subject peer-mentor involved in helping students learn and progress in their science subjects. I received excellent feedback and loved having the opportunity to teach students in a way that cultivates interest and fascination.

Tutoring Approach

I adopt a student-centred approach and understand that no two students learn in the same way. By identifying a student's strengths and weaknesses, my lessons are tailored towards their individual needs. Generally, I like to begin with teaching core scientific concepts as outlined in the specification, and then devote time to tackling exam-style questions. Having completed my own exams not so long ago, I am familiar with many specifications and will incorporate my own advice and techniques for memorisation.

Students learn best when they genuinely enjoy the content that they are given (and I am no different!). Through a wide-range of examples encountered during my medicine course, I will highlight the importance of key scientific concepts and contextualise them within the bigger picture, adding extra information whenever it is welcomed. I aim to teach students in a way that will keep them enthusiastic!
