I graduated with a 1st in Mathematical Sciences from University of Nottingham and have since worked as a tutor and teaching assistant. I also have a CELTA with a pass B grade which enables me to teach English as a foreign language. I think of myself as patient and understanding, with an ability to instill confidence in whoever I'm teaching.
I have over 300+ hours experience teaching Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level, both privately and in school. I have taught both high flyers and less confident learners, as well as working with SEN students.
During my CELTA I also completed 6 hours of teaching practice and have experience tutoring.
I prefer for students to learn through practice, setting plenty of example questions. The typical structure of each lesson is:
- 5 minute review of the previous lesson,
- An explanation of today's topic, followed by gradually more difficult examples,
- Finish with an exam style question.
Every learner is different and I always adapt my lessons to suit the needs of the learner.
EFL Lessons will train the four essential skills: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking, with an emphasis on production and fluency. I can provide practice for the Cambridge Exams or more casual conversations classes. (Prices for conversation classes are negotiable).
