Excellent tutor but not work for my daughter.

Ailis really helped our daughter with her English A level - the A level result was two grades better than predicted.

An absolutely fantastic experience with Ailis - intelligent, thorough, responsive and patient; so just about everything you'd want from a tutor!

I'd highly recommend her for anyone struggling with Maths or English, as she works wonders for both understanding and confidence – allowing children to perform at their best and think through problems independently.

We found Ailis when my son got a lower score in his mocks than he would have liked. Her focus was English Literature and she helped him make sense of plots and themes in the key texts and how to structure answers in his GCSEs. He always felt their online sessions were very useful and, in the end, his grade went up by 2 and helped him get the grade average he needed to complete sixth form at his school. In addition, she was very friendly and flexible for lessons, switching times (often at short notice) when asked to fit with my son’s busy sports timetable. Well worth it. Would recommend.

Ailis, helped to tutor our son in English Literature for his GCSE, she was very engaging and given the short window she had, she was able to build his confidence and help him understand the books he was covering to a much better level than had been achieved at school. She really helped him to cover the main subject and character areas and guided him to put together a list of key quotes. We would definitely book Ailis again for out daughter.

Ailis is an excellent tutor who has made my son a lot more confident in tackling English entrance. Always punctual with excellent communication skills, I would highly recommend her as a tutor.

Ailis has been doing a weekly session with my daughter (Year 5) for about four months and we couldn't be more pleased with how it is going. She's very friendly, easy to deal with and, most of all, my daughter loves the sessions. This is impressive, and slightly surprising, as the lessons are mostly on maths, her least favourite subject.

Beyond the sessions, working with Ailis has given my daughter confidence in her maths classes at school. It's great to hear her coming home and saying she feels less intimidated by the subject now. Anyway, I would definitely recommend Ailis and look forward to continuing with the sessions.

Ailis is helping my daughter with her Yr 11 GCSE English course. Ailis is always on time and ever cheerful. My daughter was really struggling and Ailis has encouraged Millie to see where her strengths are and build on them. She is very positive in her approach which I feel has been hugely beneficial to Millie. She sets her weekly tasks which my daughter has done with no complaining, which, in turn, means I know that Millie has bought into the value of them which is key. We are hugely happy with our choice and have in fact asked Ailis to add on some time to help our son with his Yr 9 maths.

Ailis has been super easy to deal with and a great tutor - highly recommend!

Ailis was kind, patient and curious.
She focused on building Estella’s confidence in Maths by encouraging her to try before she offered advice. She gave her exam tips by working through papers. During the short time Ailis was working with Estella her grade improved by 2 points. We would definitely recommend her.

Ailis has tutored our 10 year old son who is now going into Year 6 to prepare for 11 plus exams - particularly English comprehension and creative writing.

She has a great approach to connect with him and put him at his ease. She works through the comprehension questions making them almost fun - a way that has encouraged him to be more thorough and improve exam technique. She gently corrects his spelling and grammar whilst not making it into a drama. She has encouraged great story ideas, but also helped our son to get them down on paper coherently.

Our son's confidence in English comprehension and writing has definitely improved, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Ailis for any 11 plus English preparation.

My daughter has had a great experience with Ailis. She has been very informative and prepares her lessons well and has really helped Ela. She also seems very kind and has a lovely manner.

Aliis has had two sessions with my son so far and she's great - he's really engaged and she makes it fun! Looking forward to continue to work with her

Ailis has been extremely helpful. My son is dyslexic and struggles with writing and expressing his ideas on paper. Ailis helped give him useful tips and built up his confidence. He sat his GCSE exams with everything he needed and feeling well-prepared.

We are very impressed with Ailis, this is the second time we have gone to her for tutoring.

She helped our son with maths for SATS last year and our daughter with English literature for GCSE. Both children really enjoyed working with her, she makes the lessons fun and engaging and is very encouraging.

Ailis is an incredibly competent, highly organised and a hugely engaging tutor. My daughter warmed to her immediately and looks forward to her lessons each week. Ailis was a great tutor for me. She really helped me to think about how to approach a question for English Literature GCSE. She is very personable and helped me to feel more confident with the subject. I enjoyed discussing ideas around themes/characters and she always listened to my ideas and helped me to develop them.
She was always on time and if not, she would always let us know if she was held up and would be late.
Overall, I would recommend Ailis to anyone who wants a reliable and capable tutor.

Ailis was the perfect tutor for my daughter - encouraging, practical and made a real difference in just a few lessons so that she felt more prepared and confident in her English Lit GCSE.

My daughter has found Ailis to be very approachable and helpful. She has a lot of patience and she goes into every detail that you want to know about. She has great ways of motivating my daughter and use excellent techniques of teaching. After a few lessons with Ailis, my daughter's school has already noticed an improvement with her English and won a creative writing competition. She is also helping our daughter for Spanish which is an added advantage for my daughter. I would definitely recommend her to other pupils.

Ailis replied to our request for an A-Level English tutor.

Before her visit her communication was excellent and she was proactive in asking questions about the exam board and topics to focus on.

Ailis is punctual; she keeps us well informed if travel conditions conspire against her.

It's clear that she is a very good choice of tutor; our daughter's attitude towards the subject is visibly improved.

There's no doubt in my mind that this is a direct result of Ailis' tutoring; she strikes a good balance between gently leading P to conclusions, discussing themes in greater detail and building P's confidence in her own abilities.

Ailis has a warm and friendly personality which quickly and easily counteracts teenage nerves.
She has a good rapport with P and the study sessions are productive and enjoyable.
