I am a theoretical physicist, currently based at University College London. In my research, I try to explore what happened in the first few moments after the Big Bang, and what this can tell us about the fundamental particles and forces from which the Universe is made.
I obtained my MSci and BA in Astrophysics (both 1st class) from the University of Cambridge, before moving to King's College London for a PhD in Theoretical Physics.
I have a lifelong love of teaching. There is so much beauty in the natural world and the mathematical patterns underlying it, and I love sharing this with my students and encouraging their inquisitiveness and passion for science.
I have 10 years of experience as a private tutor, and for the past 4 years have taught students at King's College London as a Graduate Teaching Scholar while completing my PhD. During this time I won a student-nominated King's Teaching Award recognising "extraordinary contributions" to teaching, and was also nominated for a Rising Star teaching award. I now teach students at University College London as part of my role as a Research Fellow.
My tutoring is always individually tailored to each student, with a focus on giving you the skills and the confidence you need to achieve your academic goals.
I typically start by identifying the concepts that are causing difficulty and giving fresh explanations of these, using analogies and intuitive explanations to help you build deeper understanding. This is followed by guided problem-solving, in which the focus is not just on obtaining the right answer, but on how to strategise your approach and think like a scientist.
