Alina

Alina is a fantastic tutor. She is very friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and makes the lessons fun. She also listens really well. My Russian really improved after taking lessons with Alina and I would highly recommend her!

I’ve been having Russian lessons with Alina for just over two and a half years and can highly recommend her as a tutor! She is first and foremost interested in what I want to achieve and thanks to her teaching I have gone from having almost no Russian to being able to spend a couple of weeks in Odessa speaking nothing but Russian all day. Our lessons focus on real-life situations and experiences, rather than dry textbook examples and grammar tables, and this makes the lessons really engaging and mean that I can more meaningfully interact with the Russian-speaking world. She is a patient tutor and gives me space to make mistakes. Alina puts great emphasis on the importance of understanding and correctly pronouncing phonetics when learning Russian and I have found that this approach really works. Her communication is great as well – she is always quick to respond if I have questions, and is very flexible with lesson times too. We have been having lessons over Skype recently due to Covid19 lockdown and the experience has been just as good as when we had them face-to-face. If you want to start learning Russian I would not hesitate to recommend Alina as a tutor.

Alina breaks down the language into easy to understand sections so that you can begin to see how the language is built up. She also concentrates on pronunciation and tells you the correct positioning of mouth and tongue so that you can begin to get the correct pronunciation. I have no natural talent for languages and am not young but I do feel that under Alinas tutelage I might just become proficient and will be able to understand my bi lingual (English/ Russian) grandchildren.
