I can't thank Alistair enough, I gave him one weeks notice that I had a GCSE maths exam 5 days after the first message but he took me on and I passes the exam with a C considering i have not done any GCSE maths since i had left school, the amount of effort and help he gave me was on another level, he is a great tutor and an even greater guy. My confidence went up as soon as I sat down and he started explaining everything to me.

Great tutor. Very patient with new ideas. Lessons different every week. Has definitely improved my Welsh!

Alistair tutored my son in GCSE Maths and English, and also supported some GCSE Geography work. He was responsive, punctual and guaged how to balance his approach to get the best from the sessions. He responded promptly to communication with me. My son achieved Grade C in English Language and Intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel Maths, and credits Alistair with contributing to that success. PS Alistair doesn’t like dogs, so we just needed to schedule dog walks in during the session!

Alistair has been tutoring my daughter since the start of September and it is making a big difference to her. She enjoys her online sessions and looks forward to them and it is helping her with her studies and her confidence.

We recently started Welsh tuition with Alistair and couldn’t be happier with how things are going. We set him a challenging task of teaching me, my husband and our two children, aged 6 and 8, the basics of Welsh ahead of our move to Denbighshire from Surrey.

Alistair has clearly given it a lot of thought to make sure he can cater to our various needs, characters and learning styles, has a great manner with the kids and makes the sessions fun and engaging for all of us. My Twin Daughters are 10 years old and in year 6, they have never had much confidence in maths and with the recent pandemic they have fallen behind. I got in touch with Alistair to see if he could help. Both my girls are reporting that they are getting on better in school, they seem to be grasping things more easily and are a lot happier doing maths. Alistair is really lovely, my girls like him and his approach to teaching. I can’t recommend Alistair enough.

Alistair has been tutoring my partner in English for a year now and has helped him enormously. My partner is a non-native self-taught English speaker who wished to improve all aspects of his English, particularly writing, but also his self-confidence and general communication skills.
Alistair has proved to be an excellent tutor and coach, and he clearly puts a great deal of thought into how to best help my partner achieve his aims. He sets interesting and varied work, and his feedback has always been detailed, thoughtful and encouraging.

Alistair has been tutoring my 6 year old son during this latest lockdown. He has been fantastic at responding to his interests and has created learning materials that have really enagaged him and very impressively have encouraged him to write, when he can sometimes be a rather reluctant writer. At a time when he has had limited contact with his school teachers having this 121 contact with a teacher has been hugely benefical to him and is helping to make sure he doesn't lose his natural love of learning.

I have also found Alistair to be very easy to communicate with and setting up the sessions was very easy.

Alistair is helping our son (aged 6) with English ahead of forthcoming 7+ assessments. Alistair is great with him, making creative writing engaging and exciting for a young boy. With plenty of humour and laughter along the way!

Alistair tutored my daughter in preparation for her GCSE English exams. She received grade B's in Literature and Language which she was delighted with, especially after quite a worrying time what with the poor January results and the new English exam being introduced and also not completing the relevant literature books during class time in school . We are so glad we asked Alistair too help as I do not think she would have got those grades without extra tuition. In the run up to the exams he was tutoring her for 2 hours a week, which we feel as parents was money well spent. Thank You.

Alistair tutored two of my daughters in the run up to their exams. He is very professional in his approach but at the same time puts everyone at ease. I found him to be flexible which is what I needed due to work and after school activities. If you provide him with the right information about your child's needs he will do his very best to help them.I would not hesitate in asking him to tutor them again. Already thinking about how he can help them with final exams next year.

Alistair is a fantasitc tutor! I had just under a week to learn basic welsh for part of the Police recruitment process and he helped me through it. very organised and plans the lessons effectively in order for you to achieve your overall goal. Couldnt of done it without him. Would definately recommend as a tutor.

I contacted First Tutors back in november 2011 to help my 8 year old daughter with her Maths and English. I choose Alistair as he had previous experiance as a teacher, also Alistair lived nearby. I was really pleased that he could work around my busy schedule, and to attend are house for the lessions. i would like to highly recommend Alistair as he has helped her tremendously in a very short time of tutoring. my daughters tutoring consisted of 1 hour a week divided half Maths and half English, she really looked forward to it as he made it fun learning and also bought her items to make a prawn cocktail which the week before she had written out the recipe as part of her English session. Unfortunatly Alistair had to stop tutoring due to a new job away, we were sad to see him go as my daughter has benefited so much with her school work. I would like to thank Alistair for all the help and support and wish him the best of luck for the future.
