My name is Alla and I am an experienced language tutor of English as a foreign language, Russian and Spanish. Originally from Russia, I have called England my home since 2011. With a BA (Hons) in Linguistics, I am a professional linguist, teacher, and translator. My journey in language education began back in 1998, and it has been a fulfilling path ever since, offering me numerous opportunities to be creative.

Tutoring Experience

Following my graduation, I remained at my university as a lecturer, teaching English and delivering lectures on the theory and practice of translation. My dedication to professional growth is steadfast, as I regularly attend conferences, seminars, and professional development courses to enhance my teaching skills.

Tutoring Approach

Helping students improve their language proficiency is incredibly rewarding for me. I tailor each lesson to the unique needs of my learners, striving to make the learning experience as enjoyable, engaging, and effective as possible. My teaching career has allowed me to work with students of all ages, from young children to adults, and I have successfully prepared many for exams such as FCE, IELTS, and CAE. I have taught both in-person and online, in group settings and one-on-one.
In my teaching, I utilize a variety of tools, including Google Docs, Moodle, interactive PowerPoint presentations, Quizlet, screen sharing, and traditional textbooks. I am a strong advocate of the Lexical Approach, focusing on teaching language in chunks and collocations rather than isolated words. This method helps students understand how words function together, enhancing both their accuracy and fluency.
I am also a certified IELTS teacher, having received my certification from the British Council. I am well-equipped to prepare you for this exam and help you achieve your language goals.
