I have extensive teaching experience at all levels and enjoy finding ways of motivating learners, even reluctant ones!. Following a career in media production I decided to move into education and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with teenagers and more recently adults. I have been teaching for over 10 years, I have a wealth of experience as a mentor for adult learners and a personal tutor for 16-19 year learners. I have a PhD in Culture and Media and I am able to offer academic writing skills particularly for those returning to education.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught Media and Film Studies at A level, and Media production at HE for over 10 years. I also teach teachers on a PGCE/PCE programme, working with adult learners and deliver study skills at this level. I mentor teachers at my college, this involves lots of one to one sessions to identify areas for development. I also work with small groups of year 10,11 and 12 students on small scale projects with the aim of developing their academic skills.

Tutoring Approach

I understand that everyone learns in different ways and I find ways of engaging each person based on their individual learning style. I aim to encourage a deeper understanding of a subject so that the learner is confident about their abilities and can approach their studies with clarity.
