Thank you for visiting my profile! I am a musician currently residing in Glastonbury, raised in Bristol. I have done all sorts - exploring modern classical music during my degree at Goldsmiths, London (performance at cafe OTO), film scores, session work ( Field crow - Wych Elm) , playing in a band ( Foot Foot, Bristol ) , competitions ( winner of Bristol Rotary 2017), solo performances at Bristol Beacon, St Georges. I am now collaborating with my composer partner, John Bence, tying all these elements together.
I studied music right up to A-level standard, and then at university, so am able to tutor at all levels. I also have Grade 5 theory and a music technology A level.
I have a home studio in the heart of Glastonbury where I would be happy to host you; if not, I am also comfortable with travelling.
I have taken on various pupils previously in London and Bristol, from ages 8 to 40, and am happy to take on anyone at any stage of their exploration! I have a multitude of experiences; orchestras ( NCO, NYO, LSO string ensemble) , post punk bands, grunge bands, folk bands, jazz groups, workshops, selected for London Symphony Orchestra string workshops, masterclasses (Chloë Hanslip, Alexander Markov, also watched Ida Haendel and Maxim Vengerov ) session work, improvisation, theatre, performing solos with an orchestra, - meaning that my approach is hollistic and informed in all areas!
Happy to support you through any academic music exams and theory workbooks.
You steer what we do - I want to help support you in exploring your creativity. Breath work is a huge part of my approach to playing the violin - it is so important that the body flows with the instrument, for health and for musicalities sake. I am here as a guide and to provide support - building a relationship with pupil to where they feel comfortable nurturing their creativity is my primary goal.
I am open to any and all styles and approaches - whether its grades, studies, techniques, improvising, playing in a band, composing, arranging - I am happy to take your lead!
A holistic approach - after my experience of injuries and violin playing, ensuring that the body is relaxed and happy with what we are doing is of primary concern!
This is meant to be enjoyable, and about finding a new pathway to express creativity.
