I've always loved science subjects and I enjoy breaking concepts down to make them easier to understand.

Tutoring Experience

I have been officially tutoring for over a year, but have been teaching friends and relatives for over 4 years. I tutor GCSE and A-level biology and chemistry to a variety of students with a range of abilities. I tailor my lessons to the needs of each individual student and teach them in the way that will benefit them the most.

Tutoring Approach

The first step to achieving your academic goals is understanding the subject so most of our lesson time will be spent ensuring you have a good grasp of the selected topic. A method that I incorporate with all of my students is using diagrams and real-life examples to make scientific concepts easier to comprehend. I find that this is the most beneficial way to understand a subject and will help you when it comes to memorising the content. The better your understanding, the easier it will be to remember! To deepen your understanding of the subject as a whole, I will often link in other topics across the syllabus too.

The best way to remember information and keep knowledge in your long-term memory is by testing yourself! This will not only help you retain information for longer but is a good way to keep track of your progress. I will provide quizzes at the beginning of each session and give you tips on how you can use techniques such as active recall and spaced repetition in your own revision.

Once you have understood the content, the most important thing is practice, practice, practice! I always supplement my teaching with exam question practice as this is the key to achieving higher grades.
