I'm offering a free lesson - join now!
Hi, I'm Amogh - I’ve just completed my A Levels (predicted A*A*A), and I currently hold an offer to study Computer Science at the University of Warwick.
As well as a love for teaching, I have valuable experience to help you in GCSE Maths, Further Maths and English Language. Being a recent student, I know the struggles and understand exactly what it takes to do well in these exams. I'll share my personal tips that got me to where I am today, and I'll help you with the intricacies of the subjects and anything you find challenging.
In our first lesson, we'll discuss your goals, identify areas to focus on, and build a plan to achieve those goals, whether that is better grades, feeling more confident or just reigniting your love for the subject again.
I started mentoring in Year 12, teaching year 7 and 8 students as part of the Mathematics Society in my school. The aim was to spark their curiosity for maths - introducing them to topics above their curriculum level (such as basic differentiation and derivation of trig identities) and explaining these topics in a clear, easy-to-understand way to nurture their general interest in the subject, as well as building a strong foundation for those later skills.
I have also mentored 2 students 1-to-1:
- Year 11 student (GCSE Computer Science, English and French): In English, I helped this student improve his paragraph structure for writing essays by showing him a structure which also helped me out at GCSE as well. In French, I tested him on role-play speaking questions to help build his confidence, as well as providing him with tips to improve his vocab.
- Year 10 student (Computer Science and Maths): In CS, we went through basic programming skills in Python, and in Maths, I helped him relearn GCSE Probability which he was struggling in. We would go through a concept together, and afterwards I would give him some exam style questions to really test and consolidate his understanding.
All the progress that we have in our sessions will likely be kept in some kind of virtual notebook, such as OneNote. This will allow you to keep track of what we have done together, so that you can revisit it at a later date.
As demonstrated with my two previous mentees, I will take the time to go through any concepts that you are struggling with, helping you to understand why an idea works so that you can apply it yourself in different contexts.
I may also task you with questions to do in your own time: this is to get you into the habit of applying what you have learned to gain fluency as quickly as possible. I may also provide you with model solutions to check your answers independently, but please never hesitate to bring up anything that you are struggling with so that we can tackle it together.
