English and Biology Lessons in Southampton

I'm a Psychology graduate with a passion for teaching and sharing the skills I have learnt in my subject area!
My hobbies include movies, art and listening to music.
Fun facts about me: I speak French fluently and have dual nationality.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience teaching in both private settings and mainstream education.
I have experience of teaching 16-18 year olds in RSE and PSHE. I also have experience tutoring Psychology in preparation for A-Levels with this year group for OCR, AQA and EdExcel specifications. Currently, I work as a teaching assistant specialised in SEND and mental health & wellbeing support. This means that I support students 1:1 in classrooms, in small groups and in tutoring sessions. I also provide tailored emotional and wellbeing support by helping students to understand their emotions and regulate them in a healthy way. I can provide tutoring sessions for emotional wellbeing support and social skills (eg. turn-taking in conversation, body language, facial expressions). I have a lot of experience supporting individuals with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in both academic and informal settings across a wide range of need and abilities.
I have also taught ESOL (English as a Second Language) to University students, and also privately to primary aged students (9-10).
Furthermore, I have extensive safeguarding experience to help keep your children safe online and I also have experience in supporting SEND students.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is to make learning accessible, no matter who you are!
I feel that learning can feel like an impossible task if it is not adapted to the learner's needs. I think a patient, empathetic approach is key to providing high quality educational support and I like to incorporate the interests of my students where possible.
I strongly believe that the key to engagement is getting to know pupils and making sure they feel safe and comfortable. My tutoring sessions are an opportunity for personal development and learning delivered in a holistic way.
