I'm Anastasia and I am a third year Law with French Law undergraduate at Magdalen College, Oxford; I am currently undertaking my year abroad in Paris, studying at the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). Outside my studies, my main passions lie in reading (particularly classical novels and dystopias) as well as cooking. During my time at university, I have represented Oxford in various field competitions, participating in shot put, discus, and hammer.
I have over three years of tutoring experience in various subject areas, including university admissions, for age groups ranging from Year 7 to Year 13. During Year 13, at the request of my French teacher, I ran weekly tutoring sessions with two Year 12 students, where I organised a study timetable and materials for my students, focusing mainly on improving their French grammar skills. Since the summer of 2021, I have been mentoring with Zero Gravity, where I have provided focused 1-on-1 guidance to four prospective students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their ambition to apply to Russell Group Universities by providing weekly hour-long mentoring sessions. In the 2021 and 2022 Oxford application rounds, I provided mock interviews to a total of eight students; one of them was privately, and the others were through UniAdmissions. The student I helped privately was successful and received an offer from St Peter's College, Oxford. Since the start of 2023, I have tutored a Year 7 student in English Literature, focusing on analysis of texts and creative writing.
My tutoring philosophy revolves around the student, placing all of my attention and focus on them, to help develop their critical and analytical thinking skills, as well as instilling a high degree of independence and confidence in them. I believe that the student should guide the lesson, with me as a tutor offering them help where it is needed. Ultimately however, it is about the student getting the most out of the lesson, so I endeavour to make them feel welcome and comfortable to approach me with any issues they may be facing and encouraging contribution always.
