I'm currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Polymer Chemistry Department at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. My current research covers several areas in both chemistry and physics; from magnetic and electric fields, to organic synthesis and semi-conductors. Something I love about my job is that is can be incredibly varied liked this.
I completed my PhD in Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallization in 2019, at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. There I focused on process chemistry and crystallization at a manufacturing scale, and, although incredibly stressful at times, thoroughly enjoyed all the pros that come with a PhD; travelling, conferences, meeting people of different nationalities and experiencing different cultures.
I myself am also tutee; I'm currently taking lessons in French and Italian, which means I see both sides of the tutor:tutee coin. Therefore, I try to always improve my tuition skills to make the student's life as comfortable, fun and engaging as possible.
When I'm not working or studying, I regularly play football. run and cycle. I have the mantra of healthy mind, healthy body.
I started tutoring with First Tutors since the beginning of 2016. However, at the end of 2018 I took a break from private tutoring to focus on completing my PhD and other professional obligations (e.g. teaching/supervising MSc students). Since beginning my Postdoc, I've continued to teach and supervise students both in the lab, and in the classroom/lecture theatre.
In 2021, I'm now back with First Tutors, so that I can again help students with their high school or university studies, wherever they are.
I know some people find the sciences daunting! Where as others find them incredibly interesting. Each tutoring session will be tailored to suit the individual, in terms of how the information is given across, the rate, the complexity etc.
I myself use a lot of diagrams and visual aids, as well as analogies when studying, and personally I find this the most effective way. However, I'm well aware this does not work for everyone. My aim as your tutor is to find the most effective way to help you learn. And ultimately, the bottom line is that you get the most out of the experience, and each session will be tailored to make sure that happens.
