I am a very experienced teacher of history and politics. I have been a classroom teacher, head of department and curriculum manager for many years. I am familiar with exam boards and their requirements. I can help with subject content and skills (including exam skills). Over the years my students have commented on my friendly and effective teaching style, extensive knowledge and passion for my subjects. My students have always appreciated my ability to get the best out of students. I have decades of experience in preparing students for university and am familiar with the UCAS process. I am an associate examiner for A level History.
Over thirty years experience teaching in 11-18 and sixth form college sectors. I have taught secondary (11-14), O level and GCSE, A level, IB, and Access to Higher Education.
I have taught a wide variety of topics in history and in politics, and have prepared students for exams and coursework across a range of exam board specifications.
Helping students to learn and to succeed is my passion. I look for the strengths and areas for development in all my students or tutees. I use lots of different teaching methods and resources, but will also adapt to fit with individual tutees' needs and experiences e.g their school or college assignments.
