I am a Foundation Year 2 Doctor in Kent. I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2022. I secured a First Class Honours at King’s College London in Primary Care BSc. Despite my work schedule as a junior doctor, I continue to be enthusiastic to share my love for learning with students. I have a strong academic background in biology, chemistry and maths. I also can provide high yield tuition for medicine and medical school applications, and have won awards for exam results at medical school.
I am currently the Foundation Year representative at my hospital so have developed my communication skills and being caring and supportive to represent my peers’ views; an approach I adopt when caring for my students.
I have teaching sessions for University of Liverpool Medical Students every fortnight. I mentor two first year medical students and have helped them through their studies. I have also created teaching resources for medical school societies. I mentor a 6th form student from a less privileged background, who is considering a career in medicine. I have also helped students with their medical school application- from tips, tricks, personal statements to interviews.
I have worked with an organisation to tutor 6th form students get into medical school- all of whom have been successful in their applications.
I believe learning is a process that requires active participation and engagement from both the tutor and student. I like to know what the student already knows about a certain topic and what they hope to gain from the session. I prepare teaching sessions well in advance, making powerpoints/resources, summarising as I go along and asking questions to keep it interactive and boost engagement. Once content has been covered, I truly believe questions and active learning is the best way to achieve. I also believe long term memory is key to doing well in exams- so I help students become organised, and teach them how to learn, and be self-sufficient so they can achieve all their goals.
I also like to listen to my students' concerns and questions, and am willing to adapt my teaching styles for each student depending on their preferences.
