My name is Angela Buckingham and I have been teaching since 1987. I live on a narrow boat in Warwickshire with my dog Dudley. We live a wonderful life surrounded by nature.
I am passionate about teaching and look forward to the opportunity to help students to prepare for university or to achieve success and reach their full potential in their chosen batchelors or masters degree through the medium of remote teaching.
I consider myself to be dedicated, patient, hard working and empathetic with a good sense of humour. A good relationship between teacher and student results in a safe learning environment and I pride myself in the fact that I am still in contact with many of my ex students. I have a particular Interest in helping students become independent learners and to utilise their time efficiently as I consider these to be essential skills for success in university study. I encourage students to recognise their weaknesses and provide guidance to resources that they can use to attain best results. I offer the basic skills needed to be successful at university: writing, reading, and speaking plus research methods, critical thinking and referencing.
I have kept my hourly fee competitive as want to be accessible to all.
Academic English and Study Skills. I have taught this subject since 2008. Initially with INTO University of Exeter and latterly with EF Cambridge. Since moving to Warwickshire I have been engaged in one to one tutoring. I have primarily worked with International students but home students also greatly benefit, particularly in preparation for the rigours of university study.
English as a Foreign Language. From 1993 to 2008 I taught this subject in Spain with International House and the British Council. My students ranged from beginners to proficiency. I prepared the students for all of the Cambridge exams and achieved a high rate of passes. I also acted as an examiner for the Cambridge speaking exams.
My approach is student led, treating each student as an individual and fashioning the teaching to the particular needs of the student.
