I am a studying Engineering at Oxford University in my third year. At A-Level, I got 4A* in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry and I am now on track to get a 1st in my degree at Oxford.
I have tutored 18 students in total in the last 4 years. They have all achieved results which they have been pleased with. I tutored a few people at school as well and helped quite a lot with my friends and family with maths and science. I have tutored extensively online over the last few months ranging from GCSE and A-Level to preparing foreign students for coming to the UK for Sixth Form.
I believe the most important thing is for students to fully understand why their answers work. Many teachers show students how to get by with the bare minimum without really understanding the core concept. I will concentrate on the more challenging topics initially and then move over the more basic topics while constantly testing the student on what we have done in the past to ensure it has stuck.
I try to make the teaching as interesting as possible and since I am slightly younger than the normal tutor I feel as though I can relate more easily to the student as well as make the lesson slightly more enjoyable.
Problem solving is the most fascinating aspect in these subjects and showing the student how to effectively solve problems and show them how rewarding and enjoyable it can be is essential for me.
