As a qualified English teacher and graduate librarian with 17 years’ classroom experience, I bring depth, clarity, and warmth to every lesson, enriching my teaching with solid learning foundations, research expertise, and a deep appreciation of literature.
My specialism is GCSE and A Level English Language and Literature. I help young people prepare for exams, build confidence, and make the transition to higher-level study. Lessons are carefully planned around each learner’s goals, aiming to build confidence, improve clarity of thought, and support steady lasting progress. I also offer tailored summer tuition to help students navigate key stage transitions with ease. (KS2 into KS3, KS3 into GCSE, and GCSE into A Level)
I hold a current DBS on the Update Service.
I’ve taught English from KS3 to A Level—and supported KS2 learners—in grammar schools, mainstream comprehensives, and international schools. This variety has forged a flexible, thoughtful teaching style, strong curriculum knowledge, and a clear understanding of how young people think and learn.
I begin by assessing your child’s current level and agreeing clear targets. Each lesson then focuses on one or two priorities—perhaps tightening grammar or sharpening essay structure—so progress feels manageable and confidence grows naturally. Feedback is immediate and practical, and I adjust the pace to keep learning challenging without overwhelm. Whether your child is catching up or aiming for top grades, I meet them at their level and guide them steadily forward.
