I am a personable and approachable Durham University graduate with a teaching qualification in secondary school science, specialising in biology. As a young tutor, I strive to create a relatable and comfortable environment for my students to work in. I enjoy building connections with students and witnessing their growth and development in education, including the growth of their self-confidence and curiosity for learning. I genuinely enjoy working with young people and find great fulfilment in helping them unlock their full potential.
Personally, I am a keen sportswoman with many years of international lacrosse experience. This means I thrive on challenges and have high expectations which I stick to. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family and immersing myself in new cultures to gain a broader perspective on the world.
I am available to tutor online from September onwards.
With three years of teaching experience in Biology across different key stages (KS3, KS4, and KS5), I have developed a strong foundation in delivering effective tutoring sessions. Through my tutoring experience at GCSE level, I have witnessed the transformative impact of one-on-one support and guidance, particularly in exam preparation. Additionally, my extensive coaching background in sports such as tennis and lacrosse has provided me with valuable experience working with young people.
As a tutor, my approach is student focused. I am kind and patient natured while maintaining high expectations for my students. I believe in using visual aids such as notes and diagrams to enhance their understanding of the content before transitioning into a more exam-focused approach. Building a strong bond with my students is important to me, as it helps me understand their individual learning styles and how to maximise their potential. By identifying and addressing misconceptions and prior knowledge, I create a solid foundation to build upon. Together with my tutees, we collaborate to identify specific areas of the syllabus to focus on, ensuring targeted and effective learning.
