I am a second year Medical student studying at Imperial College London. I am the eldest of many siblings, and my family home is an old farmhouse in North Yorkshire. I am a very musical person, with a Grade 8 in violin and a diploma in singing. My education was equally split between state school and boarding school, so I have experience with the differences in teaching at both.
I am very hard working and enjoy learning, however I often found it difficult to concentrate when I was at school, so I definitely empathise with how young minds can find school frustrating!
I have lots of experience tutoring, as well as working with small children. This last school year (2021-2022) I tutored in English Language, English Literature, Chemistry and Biology, with my students gaining grades of 9, 9, 9 and 8 respectively. One of my students improved his Biology mark by two grades.
I also have a recent DBS certificate and a certificate in First Aid for both adults and children.
I firmly believe in an interactive teaching style where I encourage students to ask many questions and try to think for themselves as much as possible. With this in mind, I will work through problems and ideas using a step-by-step basis, allowing my students to fully understand difficult concepts. I tend to use a lot of past paper questions in order to practice exam technique, however I add in more interesting learning points in order to engage my students.
