I am an American studying at Royal Holloway, University of London. Although I am a first year psychology student, I have completed a foundation year at an American university. My goal is to teach receive my doctors in psychology and go on to become a university professor. However, for now I am happy to be apart of one of the best psychology programs in the country. On top of psychology, I have always had a passion for english, literature, and writing. Because I believe english will help in any path you choose to go down in life, I have taken many classes within the subject, including taking college level courses while I was in high school. I am willing to show any transcripts or recommendation letters from former teachers and professors upon request.
I have been a tutor for the past three years, as well as helping my younger brother on the side, giving me experience with children on the autism spectrum. I also have been teaching yoga classes for three years, which I believe has helped me learn how to communicate and get my point across to the students I tutor.
I believe that in order to be a successful tutor hard work has to come from both me, and the student. Going over good study habits, making schedules, and setting up a solid routine outside of sessions is also very important. Within my time with a student we start with making sure they have a basic understanding of the concept, and go on from there. I have never had the same approach to tutoring with the same person, for I work under the belief everyone learns in different ways. Overall my goal will be to help raise their confidence, understanding, and appreciation of the subject.
