Hi,
I am a French native speaker. I speak fluently English, French and German and trained in various European universities and the famous French business school, ESCP-EAP. I am also a seasoned French translator. I have been working for the past 17 years mainly as a French teacher and private tutor but also own my own translation business. Before that I was an international conference organiser, using my language skills daily. I am a qualified teacher with QTS and also have a diploma to teach foreign languages to adults (PTLLS).
Throughout the years I have been teaching French both to adults (beginners and advanced level) and local students for their GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels but also the Cambridge diplomas.
I have a lot of experience tutoring students who are taking their GCSE, IGCSE, and A-levels. I have worked with most examination boards: AQA, CIE, Edexcel and OCR. I have successfully tutored students from The London Oratory School, Tiffin's Girls and Tiffin's boys in Kingston, Kingston Grammar, Roseberry, the City of London Freemen's School, Guildford High for girls, Coombe Girls, the Glyn, Nonsuch High school for Girls, Wilson's School for Boys in Sutton, Cheam High, to name but a few.
I also tutor adults from beginners to more advanced levels as I have trained as a Modern Foreign Language tutor at the City Lit and was awarded the PTLLS. I can also teach business French as I work with companies based in London to provide that service.
I currently also teach university students and can help with translation as I am also a qualified and practising English-to-French translator.
Depending on the level and expectations of both tutees and parents, I will adapt the style of lessons.
To prepare students for their GCSE, IGCSE or A-level I will first test their knowledge of the French grammar structures and the extent of their vocabulary. I'll try to follow as much as possible what is done in the classroom if the child already has French at school. I favour repetition through exercises when it comes to grammar and I use French texts to point out "real-life" examples of their use.
Being French and having been educated in French schools, I'm also happy to teach French children and to work on improving their French, i.e correcting their spelling, and grammar, or introducing French literature to older students if they want. Their "mistakes" are different from those an English student would make and you need someone who's been there and is French like them to override those issues.
I can also create lessons for a special objective like spending holidays in France with friends and family: we'll then concentrate on specific vocabulary and situations.
For adults: there again it all depends on what you expect from those lessons. Do you already have some prior knowledge of the language or not? Do you have some specific objectives like buying a house in France or spending your holidays there? I'll adapt to your needs. We may most likely concentrate on vocabulary and situations and include grammar as we go along.
