Hi, my names is Arjun, and I am currently a 5th year medical student at Imperial College London. As someone who has gone through all stages of exams from 11+, to A-Levels and medical school exams, I truly recognise how challenging each of these can be. I hope to not only improve students understanding in this subjects, but also engagement to ensure each person is able to push themselves to their best ability.
I have been tutoring for over 8 years, spanning both group sessions and 1-to-1. I have covered teaching of 11+, GCSEs, A-Levels as well as medical school entrance exams/interviews. Over these years, i have had the pleasure to teach and meet so many different people, allowing me to test out and identify different and effective teaching methods. I always try to plan my sessions specific to each student.
My approach to teaching is dependent on the student themselves, their way of learning, their goals and their interests, to ensure a combination or learning, practice and enjoyment. Subject knowledge will tend be covered first, using curriculums specific to each exam as well as a mix of examples to ensure there is thorough understanding. Practice questions and exams are a key focus of mine, and will always have a part to play for each session, as I believe exam technique is just as important as exam knowledge. Additionally, this allows the students knowledge to be consistently tested, that helps with memory. I also, like to set questions/topics of reading for the student in between sessions, nothing too long, but something that will help student progression over time.
