I am a fully qualified and experienced QTS teacher who has been graded as ‘Outstanding’. I am currently teaching Science to pupils from KS3 to KS5 and have also taught in a range of settings including primary and university. I also have a Master of Science degree in engineering with over 18 years professional experience gained as a Chartered Engineer. My strong scientific/engineering background and teaching experience allows me to demonstrate extensive subject knowledge particularly in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and effectively illustrate the relationship between key concepts and their practical application.
I have over 12 years of teaching experience and have tutored privately (online, one-to-one, and group) for over 4 years a growing number of A-Level Physics, Maths and Chemistry students, final year and Year 10 GCSE students in Maths and Science, KS1 and KS2 pupils in Maths, English and Science and preparing Year 6 students for SATs/private entrance exams.
My recent success stories include providing one-to-one tuition to two Year 11 GCSE Science students and boosting their confidence in the subject so that she successfully progressed from an expected Grade 4 to finally achieve 8 in triple Science within four months. I have also provided one-to-one tuition to a Year 6 pupil and by changing his attitude towards learning and developing his independent learning skills, I have helped him reach his and his parents goal of passing the entrance exams for a highly reputable private school in North London.
Prior to qualifying, I taught on a voluntary basis at a local supplementary school for over 7 years and home-schooled one of our children to the satisfaction of the local education authority. I have taught in a range of settings from primary through to university including ESOL students.
As parent referrals will substantiate, my success of becoming a well sought-after tutor lies in the fact that I focus on and am able to help my students grasp key concepts and develop their confidence to succeed and exceed their expectations.
My commitment to learning and implementing best teaching practice is illustrated by the fact that I have successfully acquired numerous postgraduate qualifications alongside my willingness to experiment with new teaching strategies as advocated by experienced practitioners and postgraduate research in the interest of promoting progress for all and deep and independent learning.
My growing list of success stories and students stems from my ability to instill a growth mindset, develop an excellent rapport, personalise learning and ensure key concepts are grasped that allow the student to apply them to different contexts which helps them overcome their fears and develop confidence in the subject.
