Hi There!
I'm Ash, a dedicated Science and Maths Tutor with over 5 years experience. I graduated from the University of Bath in 2019 where I read Chemistry for Drug Discovery (Integrated Masters) graduating with a first-class honours. Since graduating, I now work in the biopharmaceutical industry, which keeps my knowledge up-to-date and relevant while balancing tutoring alongside my day-job.
I’ve tutored across a range of ages from KS3 and 11+ up to undergraduate, and have helped over 50 students to Secondary Education, GCSE, IB and A-Level success. I was also a peer mentor and peer assisted learner when at university, coaching second and first year chemistry students through their studies while balancing my own workload and extra-curricular activities.
My belief is that student engagement is key to successful online tutoring. To achieve this, all lessons are prepared thoroughly beforehand, tailored to student's individual requirements and utilising a variety of learning resources to maximise student involvement and enjoyment. I strive to maintain a comfortable yet focused environment in all my lessons; attaining this through getting to know the student on a personal level and preparing the lesson accordingly.
I believe an open line of communication between myself and the parent is pertinent to a successful learning experience for the tutee. I provide regular feedback on the student’s progress and am available to discuss any queries or matters arising.
Outside of tutoring, I’m a keen sportsman, playing rugby to a high standard in my earlier life. I now cycle, play golf or tennis, cook and bake when I can.
I have over 5 years experience and have tutored over 50 clients to Secondary Education, GCSE, IB and A-Level success and have. This was achieved through working full time as a tutor in my gap year and managing tutoring around both my university studies and full time work. I was also a peer mentor and peer assisted learner when at university, coaching second and first year chemistry students through their studies while balancing my own workload and extra-curricular activities.

I deliver a bespoke tutoring service that is tailored to each clients individual needs. This could be covering a whole syllabus or specific topics that the client would like to focus on.
For online tuition, getting a tutee talking and working is key - online whiteboards are perfect for this. Encouraging the reading of questions, writing answers and drawing diagrams is vital to maintain engagement, along with a variety of question styles and resource material to prevent a loss in focus. In addition to this, when possible, I keep an open line of communication between myself and the parent or guardian at all times.
My sessions maintain a balance of oral discussion and past paper questions which I will break down with the student to identify further areas of focus. I pride myself on being able to explain concepts in a number of ways, making sure I can explain a topic to any student. Closer to exam periods, I can also offer sessions more focussed on past papers and exam technique to ensure clients are exam-ready.
I recognize that the key to effective learning lies in building a strong rapport with students and create a relaxed, positive and supportive environment in which questions are encouraged, and challenges are met with enthusiasm.
