I am a tutor in Human Sciences at St Catherine's College, University of Oxford.
I have also worked as a doctor, specialising in psychiatry and in the rehabilitation of survivors of torture. I was a senior editor of The Lancet, probably the world's leading medical journal.
I have degrees in physiology (BA), medicine (BM BCh), and anthropology and psychiatry (MSc, PhD).
At Oxford University, I teach physiology and anthropology to Human Sciences students. I also teach physiology, neuroscience, anthropology, and psychology to visiting students.
Outside university, I teach many subjects to GCSE and A-Level. Because of my wide educational and professional experience, I am comfortable with many subjects and approaches to learning. My students have had good results.
I love trying to foster critical thinking and creativity, since an independent, thoughtful student is potentially a happier and empowered person. Tutoring is about attending to each student's unique needs, and helping them to develop into the person, and the student, they can be.
