Hello! As a teacher and a mother to two young children, I am passionate about education and giving children the opportunity to flourish. I hope to provide affordable support for families to help their little ones become more confident and capable in their learning skills and help create a love for learning. I am a qualified primary teacher with 8+ years experience teaching at different levels. I completed my undergraduate in Education Studies at Oxford Brookes University in 2017 and then went on to Canterbury Christ Church University where I received my PGCE Primary with Distinction.
As a teacher I have taught the England National Curriculum to students across Reception to Year 6, in England and internationally at a private school in Bangkok, Thailand. In regards to more specific areas of support, I would like to highlight that I am confident with teaching phonics and early reading, using maths mastery methods and working with children with additional needs.
I have tutored primary level subjects, up to GCSE English Literature & Language, primary students with additional needs and primary students with English as an additional language.
During the height of the pandemic, I had to teach my Year 5 class using Zoom, alongside other software, for many months. Although this was not ideal for the whole curriculum, it has enabled me to become confident in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons online.
My main approach is to keep the tutoring child-centred. Starting with asking the pupil what they need help with, finding out how they learn best as an individual, and what their targets are. This will, of course, be influenced by what the parent and/or school has highlighted as areas for development or areas they could excel in. I aim to ensure the pupil is always comfortable, academically stimulated and, hopefully, enjoying their learning!
