An English and Education graduate from the University of Cambridge, I have a particular passion for helping children to learn and develop. Be it in formal settings in the classroom, or working as a qualified cricket coach, I relish supporting children and take great pleasure from aiding them on their journey to being successful.
An experienced Primary School Teacher, I have taught all ages from 5-11. I currently teach Year Six so am particularly well aware of the knowledge and skills required for pupils to excel in their SATs. I also have experience of preparing pupils for local entrance examinations (Kent and Dover Tests in particular) and have experience as a marker of 11+ examinations for a local grammar school. My degree is related to English, so I have an undoubted passion for reading and writing, but I also enjoy the teaching of Mathematics.
My teaching approach is rooted in making learning engaging and accessible. If a child is enjoying and engaged in what they are doing they undoubtedly learn more and develop a passion and enthusiasm for the subjects they are learning. I believe that preparation is essential and therefore I will develop an individualised and specialised programme to support your child develop their potential and skills. This will be based on your requirements and the interests and level of your child. I am used to both whole class teaching and intervention work which resembles tutoring in key ways. I like to motivate students and have experience motivating and engaging children who may not have a natural relish for learning.
