Hi there! I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First Class BA in Politics and Sociology (within the faculty of Human, Social and Political Sciences), and from the University of Leipzig with an MA in Social Anthropology.
During my final year at university, I specialised in the history of political thought from c.1890, social theory and the political economy of global cities. But I'm able to tutor all Sociology and Government and Politics qualifications up to undergraduate level, and English up to A-level.
I have more than five years tutoring experience on FirstTutors, and before that I mentored younger students one-to-one during my last year at secondary school. I also have experience in helping pupils apply to university, including with personal statements and interview practice. I have good knowledge of the various exam syllabi and their requirements.
In the first session, we will plan our focus-points for upcoming sessions: how, when, why, and for what, the tutee intends to learn. I will then prepare a strategy with careful reference to the relevant examination syllabus and sensitivity to the particular needs of the student. While stressing the importance of clear argument construction and the development of an authorial voice, my primary aim is to make the subject enjoyable and engaging.
I look forward to hearing from you!
