I am an Irish National, married to a French with two young adult daughters. We are an international family. We have a keen interest in the Economic and Political life of the Countries of the world with daily news reads from many different sources. We enjoy travel, are interested in all things cultural including music, theatre, art and we very much like to go into the great outdoors for walks and small climbs. We all speak French and as a member of Alliance Francaise I keep in touch with the written word through their Book Club.
After graduating I taught for twelve years in Ireland. I then moved to Paris attended a French language, history and civilisation course at the Sorbonne and afterwards joined Ecole Active Bilingue as a teacher of Mathematics and Economics.. Ecole Active Bilingue is an international college with a French and English section. I taught AQA A Level Economics in the English section.
We moved to Cambridge in 1999 and I took up a post at Bellerbys International College where I taught IGCSE Mathematics, AQA and CIE A Level Economics.
During my teaching career, I have also been a tutor in Maths and Economics.
My approach to teaching is student centred. I empathise a lot with my students and use an all-round personalised approach to my teaching to facilitate student learning. I relate on a personal level and try to understand the students needs. Understanding the basics of the topic being taught is key to further development and we do not go beyond this point until it is understood. We then build together on this understanding until the student has fully grasped the whole topic.
