My name is Beth, and I am a passionate and dedicated science educator with three years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have worked with a wide range of students, including those with autism, dyslexia and ADHD, and I am committed to making science accessible and engaging for all learners. My own experience with dyslexia has given me a deep understanding of the challenges students may face, and I use this insight to create a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. I believe that education should be interactive, inspiring, and tailored to individual needs, helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals
I have experience teaching and tutoring science across different exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, giving me a strong understanding of their requirements and assessment criteria. My background includes:
Exam Preparation: Having marked for Edexcel, I provide students with valuable insights into how exams are structured, common pitfalls, and how to refine their exam technique.
Curriculum Development: I have designed science assessments from Key Stage 3 onwards, ensuring they effectively measure student learning and progress.
Specialist SEN Support: I have experience tutoring autistic students and adapting lessons to meet their individual needs.Mentoring Science Teachers: I have mentored other science teachers to strengthen their subject knowledge and improve their teaching strategies.
Multi-Disciplinary Teaching: While chemistry is my specialism, I also confidently teach physics at a high level.
My subject expertise, combined with my engaging and student-centered teaching style, has helped students improve their grades and develop a deeper understanding of science.
I believe that learning should be engaging, interactive, and thought-provoking. My approach includes:
Active Learning: Encouraging students to take an active role in their learning through discussion, problem-solving, and real-life applications of science.
Building a Growth Mindset: Helping students understand that making mistakes is an essential part of learning and progress.
Critical Thinking Development: Introducing real-world, engaging problems to encourage students to think critically and apply their knowledge beyond the classroom.Exam-Focused Strategies: Teaching key exam techniques, identifying common misconceptions, and helping students build confidence in their ability to succeed.
My goal is to make complex scientific concepts accessible and inspiring, helping students not only improve their grades but also develop a genuine curiosity for the subject.
