I am a classically trained cellist offering one-to-one tuition on Violin, Viola, cello and Double bass as well as music theory. I have a degree in Music performance and have worked as a freelance performer and teacher since graduating in 2003.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught privately since 2001 offering one to one tuition to pupils. In this time I have also worked for North Yorkshire music service, Education Bradford and since 2009 Nottinghamshire Instrumental teaching service. In these positions I have gained experience in one to one, small group and whole class instrumental teaching as well as ensemble director and lower strings coaching. I work towards the ABRSM graded examinations and have a 100% pass rate across the board.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons are very 'playing' based and I encourage pupils to play throughout the lessons time. My focus is on technique. Encouraging a good technique from the start ensures students are able to progress at a faster pace. I like students to perform as much as they can and offer students the opportunity to play in competitions and ensembles as and when they arise.
