I am currently a final year medical student at the Hull York Medical school. I’ve always had an interest in Maths, Sciences and Medicine and I really enjoy teaching. I enjoy helping others to understand difficult concepts to help them solve problems they may come across in their studies.
I have previously tutored primary and secondary children Maths and Science during my A levels. I have organised teaching sessions to other medical students at my medical school throughout my degree, covering anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine. During my time at medical school I have also helped other A level students get into medical school, by achieving the grades necessary, scoring high in the UKCAT and with medical school interview tips and important information.
I have found that each student tends to learn in a particular way. I often try to explore this to find which way is best to teach the student and apply that to my teaching sessions. I give tips and handy information directly relevant to their curriculum as well as application of knowledge. I usually explore their abilities with frequent questions and push the students’ knowledge of the concept. I also reinforce them with questions to ensure that they have mastered the concept, so that they can solve problems in the future, in a way that makes sense to them.
From my previous experiences, I’ve developed various ways to explain things to students and have received feedback highlighting this as one of my strong points.
