I am a Chartered Teacher registered with the General Teaching Council of Scotland to teach Mathematics Chemistry Biology and Technological education. I am also registered as a Special Educational Needs teacher and hold a Masters degree in Education in this field.
As a father and grandfather I appreciate first hand the concerns parents have about their child's education.

Tutoring Experience

I am a Scottish secondary school teacher with over 30 years experience. I have considerable experience tutoring and I am now a self employed tutor. I also have experience of teaching the IGCSE and of children being home schooled. I have taught children with ASN including autism. As a fully qualified teacher I have knowledge of the Scottish education system. This is of course enhanced through the General Teaching Council's recognition of me as a Chartered Teacher.
In addition to my Secondary work I have recent experience of tutoring maths to upper primary school pupils.
I am also involved in the tuition of a family who are bring home schooled. I am able to work on the areas the learners are having in maths and science. The area of home schooling interests me and I would be particularly interested in developing tuition in this area.

Tutoring Approach

I have experience of tutoring students in their own home. I like to match my teaching with the needs and learning style of the student. I have a friendly but not familiar style of teaching. My post graduate study in the area of SEN and inclusive education is put to good use in my teaching. I am happy to teach more than one subject and I do so frequently. Indeed I fill a niche here and the cost of my time reflects my breadth of knowledge and experiences. Different subjects can be seperate evenings for different subjects or as required at the time on a single evening. The student can benefit through a more personal approach to their broader educational needs.
