I am currently studying medicine, but I have previously studied maths, biology, chemistry and geography at A level.
My past experience includes tutoring one student in GCSE maths, helping them achieve two grades above their target grade, allowing them to pass it. I have tutored one student in GCSE advanced sciences helping them achieve a grade A/ 7. Also I have tutored one student in biology and chemistry AS level. I am friendly and understanding, and I think it is important to help build a student's confidence in the subject so they may achieve even higher than they expect.
During a one hour lesson I spend the first 10 minutes ensuring any homework set is correct and understood, or for any class work that needs confirming. For the next 30 minutes I then focus on teaching a topic of the student's choice. This usually includes explaining any sections that the student finds particularly confusing, then asking to summarise back to me ensuring it is understood and that they are now feeling confident. The last 20 minutes are spent on exam style practice questions to check that the student can apply their knowledge. This structure is good for helping the student feel prepared for any upcoming exams, however it is flexible depending on the student's preferences and the topic or subject that is being taught.
