Having confidence with numbers is something I believe is a skill for life. Untapped potential, struggling to understand, unable to secure time with the teacher for explanations. Whatever the reason, I believe I can help your child reach their potential, grow in confidence and develop that life skill.
The cost of tutoring can mount up – for that reason I am happy to deliver as many or little sessions as you would like and be flexible in their timings.
As your child approaches their mock and final exams, I can also help them with planning their revision for all of their subjects.
I have a first class degree in Maths & Music from Birmingham University and have been a fully qualified accountant for more than 20 years.

Tutoring Experience

I have 5 years teaching experience specialising in GCSE mathematics. Those I have taught have ranged in skills and abilities from those wanting to achieve a 4 to supporting a child in achieving the highest grade (9).

Tutoring Approach

First and foremost, I want to be here to build on what your child is already learning at school – not to contradict what they have been taught. However, I know that sometimes things need explaining in different ways and am therefore adaptable in my approach.
The key to maths is practice, practice, practice. We will go through the topic first, checking in your child’s understanding and then when they feel confident, we will go through questions together and finally your child will complete some questions on their own. Getting your child to explain their answers and put themselves in the role of the teacher are some great techniques that I have used to really cement understanding.

I can teach most days after 3pm and weekends. The rate disclosed is for one-to-one delivered at my home. If you would like me to travel to you, a surcharge may be added for travel expenses depending on location.
