I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first in 2012. My degree was in Natural Sciences and I specialised in Plant Sciences, but I studies Physics up to A level, Maths and Chemistry to first year undergraduate and then obviously Biology for the whole degree! I worked on my PhD in Synthetic Biology for 3 years, but was unable to complete due to personal reasons and have a Chemistry PGCE (for which I received an Outstanding grade) in teaching at Goldsmiths University.
I am currently based in London.
Throughout the years I have taught Maths and all the Sciences to A level and GCSE students. I have over 800 hours of teaching experience to individual students and small groups.
I always like to start with a few basic questions to see where the student currently stands, and go from there. In my experience, every student is different and some work best by working through past papers with supervision while others are best served by going through their school work and learning new ways of tackling problems. I often find that I approach problems in a different way to the methods normally taught in school. This means I am able to offer my students alternative ways of thinking.
I also like to push students beyond the syllabus if possible. By discussing more difficult concepts then are necessary, the questions asked in the lessons and exams will feel much easier. Personally, I have always found this helps me to remember the concepts better and that it makes me and my students more keen for further work.
