I am currently Head of STEM responsible for 700+ students in their academic journey to success. My passion for education and what it represents is reflected in my standard of teaching. I believe learning should be an enjoyable experience which feeds on the learner’s curiosity and promotes interest in a subject. I see every lesson as an opportunity to enthuse learners and deepen their knowledge, understanding and skills. I believe my dedication to teaching drives the quality of my lessons and my devotion to the students pushes my creativity in my planning, ensuring I provide them with a fulfilling experience.
Currently a Head of school for all Science, Engineering and Maths courses for the largest 16-18 provider in the UK. I have previously taught at GCSE level covering Biology, Physics and Maths. In addition experience delivering A-level Biology, Level 2/Level 3 BTEC in Applied Science & Forensic Science and lecturing in HE at Degree level in Biomedical Science and Molecular Biology.
Teaching across four different levels has developed my proficiency to adapt my teaching styles, accommodating the varying levels of ability and maximising my learners potential.
Teaching and learning is a two-way interaction; educators are required to teach with an approach that reinforces the natural learning process. Within science, abstract concepts can often be challenging for students to comprehend. Therefore, I often make analogies with real-life situations. Linking the inner workings of a cell to that of a toy factory, referring all of the different organelles to different employee roles within a business; I am able to create a tangible context for my students to grasp.
