Before embarking on my higher education journey in the UK, I completed the Trinity Guildhall examinations (Grade 1-6) in piano, theory and practical, from which I gained competencies of the Classical music genre. During my two years of college and four years in university I was able to study and perform a wide range of musical genres. Moreover, research for my MA in music education which was based on UK and international music education, primarily focused on the philosophies and practices in music education in a variety of cultural and international contexts including the UK and those of the students themselves. Currently I am pursuing a PhD in music education and music therapy, which I am hoping to gain more insight in the interdisciplinary fields.
In addition to being a piano tutor in the last years, I have led several workshops at local primary schools as a part of the university music ensembles. I have mainly worked as a teaching assistant in mainstream and special educational needs (SEN) schools with pupils from primary to Post-16, which has trained me to adapt to ever-changing situations, while maintaining professionalism. My duties include assisting students achieve their individual learning targets and promoting independent learning, liaising and interacting professionally with classroom teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator), other teaching assistants in the planning of joint actions within the team. I was awarded with positive feedback during my work experience as a SEN teaching assistant, because of my ability to deliver tailored teaching methods to students on both one-to-one basis and in small groups.
I specialise in and am best at teaching Classical and contemporary music. I believe in using different teaching methods tailored to different students is important to highlight individuality. I encourage my students to ask questions in order to boost their confidence and enhance their understanding. I firmly believe in high quality music education and its academic and social benefits, and I hope to pass on my love for music and keep the sessions fun and enjoyable.
