I have been a secondary English teacher for nine years. I now tutor and run my little business. I have in depth knowledge and, passion and experience of teaching language and literature to years seven to eleven of all abilities. I can assist with KS3 students’ confidence with spelling, punctuation, reading and writing skills and I can help your child with their exams at KS4 from teaching the skills for the language exams and how to be successful under timed conditions, to the set texts and poems for the literature exam and how to write successful essays and meet assessment objectives. My aim is to boost confidence and help your child develop independent learning skills whilst finding a love of reading and an eagerness to do this at home and hone their skills. Whatever their goal is, I am here to support them every step of the way and help them achieve their desired grades.
With a friendly approach where humour is essential, I build positive relationships for learning.

My approach is to scaffold. I like to create clear pathways and chunked up steps for successful teaching and learning with a recap each session. The sessions will have clear routines and I will outline the aim of the lesson to ensure clarity and consistency. Homework will be set to ensure independent skills are utilised and improved each time.
