I am an experienced Head of Department and school teacher of Geography, with AQA exam marking experience. My broad range of experience in both education and industry, along with extensive world travel and living in various countries, has allowed me to develop a unique range of skills and experience which I endeavour to bring to my teaching practice. Inspiring students, generating a curiosity for the subject and a love of both learning and the world around us, are areas I am incredibly passionate about. I am an ocean enthusiast and lead a very active lifestyle spent mostly in the ocean. Travel is a huge part of my life and as a Geographer, I thrive in experiencing new landscapes and cultures, which give me a unique perspective on teaching this vital subject. I am adaptable and engaging and will always try to make learning fun and effective to ensure students reach their potential and have as many doors open to them, so that they can succeed in leading a life of immense fulfilment.
I have over 5 years of teaching Geography and have led a very successful department for 3 years. During those years, the Geography results have been within the top 3 in the school, with students exceeding target grades. I have some tutoring experience in both small group settings and 1-1. I adore teaching my subject and I am very passionate about sharing my knowledge, experiences and skills to allow others to reach their full potential. I also have experience for a reputable UK lifesaving charity as a Campaign Manager, which has allowed me to develop extensive skills in Business Management.
Geography and teaching are my passions and I love to pass this on to my students in engaging and varied ways, bringing in my wide range of international experiences from extensive world travel. My pedagogy is rooted in effective and adaptable teaching methods to ensure all students are able to thrive and their unique learning needs are catered for. I am constantly developing my practice, most recently through undertaking a NPQ in Leading Teaching, which allows me to ensure my teaching skills are at the forefront of the educational landscape.
I ensure lessons are fun and engaging, promoting both a love of the subject and love of learning and I enjoy bringing in experiences from my worldwide travel to encourage students to engage on a deeper level with key geographical issues, building relevance and curiosity.
