I am an educator with over ten years experience in teaching and youth work. My masters level post-graduate certificate in education (PGCE) means I have detailed knowledge of the National Curriculum, thorough understanding of pedagogy and the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts across a range of subjects.
Whilst active in the classroom in 2014, I led a campaign to promote the teaching of first aid in schools. This involved liaising with Members of Parliament and ministers, attending All-Party Parliamentary Groups and gaining cross-party support to instigate a change in national education policy, which from September 2020 saw first aid become part of the school curriculum.
I specialise in upper primary and have experience with children of all backgrounds, faiths, learning requirements and English levels. I have a maximum of 5 students per week to ensure I am giving a full service to those I take on. I cover maths for SATS, general help and 11+ maths & non-verbal reasoning (including ISEB pretest) for those who require it.
I currently have availability Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
After gaining my degree, I qualified as a primary teacher and taught in schools in London, Leeds and Doncaster. I gained a strong subject knowledge across the curriculum as well as developing the ability to adapt to meet the needs of pupils of different ages and abilities.
My undergraduate and PGCE dissertations focused on the imagination and the apparent decline in creativity as they progressed through school. As a result, I am passionate about instilling a love of learning in all those I teach and tailoring sessions to the learning requirements of individuals.
I am proactive, versatile and dedicated to ensuring students not only reach their goal but also develop an enthusiasm for learning through a professional, friendly and flexible approach.
I offer the option of a one-off, face-to-face meet and greet session to get to know one another in person. Subsequent sessions are online.
