Experienced Maths Tutor with Cambridge Masters Degree
Whatever your chosen career, Maths is the essential ingredient. I can help you to feel confident and to reach your full potential.
I have been tutoring (including online internationally) for over 10 years, and have delivered well over 1,000 hours of tutoring. My average student feedback score is 5/5. Enhanced DBS checked.
I share and impart my enthusiasm for, enjoyment of, and confidence in, the subject with those I tutor. My manner is informal, kind, patient, supportive, non-judgmental, encouraging, and constructive.
I have been described and recommended by previous students and their parents as: an excellent, reliable, approachable tutor, who really loves maths; providing excellent interactive, on-line teaching, with very clear explanations of solutions, in a calm, friendly, and encouraging way, enabling renewed confidence; organized and efficient; resulting in increased grades.
GCSE students: Whether you feel fairly confident, or you feel terrified of maths (you are not alone!), I would be happy to help you.
A-level students: I will help you understand the topics that you are currently having difficulty with or which seem more complicated.
In either case, I will work through things (taking into account your learning style) in a step-by-step way that you can follow, and then we can work through examples together until you feel confident. I really enjoy helping students to get clear about stuff which has previously eluded them. Through a focus on your target areas, plenty of practice, and working on exam technique, I will build your confidence and proficiency. Working with a tutor will help you get the grades you want.
University-entrance Students: Let’s enjoy maths together! Maths is my passion and I love working with others who want to get stuck-in at this more complex and challenging level.
I have tutored students from age 7, through to GCSE, AS/A-level, IB and Oxbridge entrance, as well as adult learners. Direct face-to-face tutoring is ideal. The online format also works really well, although in my experience it works best for students aged 14 or older.
Please do contact me; I will be happy to work with you!
"After doing maths with Chris, not only did I score my first ever 'A' in a maths exam at college, I also – for the first time ever – understood how one needs to think to understand maths [make that bold if you can]...
Perhaps more than any specific preparation he gave me, he has sparked off a whole new approach to the subject for me that I would probably never have found otherwise. It will very likely help me in all future exams and tests..."

I had got to a point where I seemed hopelessly stuck. Every way I tried to solve the practice A level maths problems we’d been set, I got nowhere. Chris was very patient...he took it right back, assessing my understanding and then building on this step by step. After spending several sessions with Chris, I was able to approach the problems from a fresh perspective and with renewed confidence. The end result an ‘A!’ Thankyou.

Thank you so much for your help yesterday. No longer is Excel a challenge. Your ability to lead me through new techniques with clear explanations has opened up the world of spreadsheets and simplified what I thought were complicated functions.

My method is to listen to the student, find the area(s) with which he/she/they need(s) help and practice, and to tailor sessions accordingly. If online, sessions make use of Skype as well as other online technology, so as to deliver high quality teaching.
