Christina

I’m Dr Christina Removed — an award-winning author, editor, and tutor with a PhD in Creative Writing. I’ve published six books for children and young people, including The Loop, which received international recognition and was voted for by children around the world. My short stories have also appeared in various literary journals and anthologies, and I’ll soon be releasing my debut novel for adults, The Animals.

I’m passionate about helping people bring their ideas to life — whether they’re studying for school or simply want to grow in confidence as a writer. I work with learners of all ages and backgrounds, and I love helping people discover the joy and power of their own voice.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching creative writing for over a decade, in both academic and community settings. I’ve taught at university level up to MA standard, worked with young people in schools and workshops, and mentored adults at all stages of their writing journey.

I completed both my BA and MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, and later earned my PhD from the University of Kent. Alongside my tutoring, I also co-direct Alight Productions — a creative education company that uses storytelling to engage and empower children and young people.

Tutoring Approach

My sessions are supportive, practical, and always tailored to the student. If you're studying toward an exam, I’ll work closely with the curriculum to build skills and confidence in areas like descriptive writing, structure, and language. If you’re writing for yourself, I’ll adapt to your personal goals — whether you’re starting a short story, finishing a novel, or exploring your creative voice.

I offer two main formats:

A one-hour teaching session where we explore writing techniques together.

Or a hybrid option: I spend an hour reviewing and critiquing your work in advance, followed by a 30-minute session to talk through the feedback and help you move forward.

Whichever option you choose, you’ll leave with clear next steps and renewed motivation.
