I am an experienced Principal Teacher of maths. I am a nationally renowned expert in mathematics education - speaking at all major maths education conferences in Scotland and many others across the UK.
I am also a teacher trainer, working across the whole of Scotland.
I have excellent knowledge of all qualifications and have experience as an SQA examiner at various levels.
Further, I am a published author, having written a book on effective mathematics teaching. I am an enthusiastic teacher who has had excellent results from both my class teaching and from tutoring students on a one-to-one basis. I have a BSc (Hons) in Maths and Computing Science from the University of Glasgow.
Tutoring Experience
I have been teaching for 19 years and have had continually good results. I have taught Advanced Higher, Higher, National 5, National 4 and other levels. This year, my preference is to tutor online.
Tutoring Approach
I like to put the student at ease with a friendly, approachable, although business like manner. I like to match my teaching with the specific needs of the student. I provide lots of past and sample exam papers, worksheets, resources and various powerpoints for the student to study in his/her own time between session.
