Qualified and experienced Science teacher and tutor - Alevels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as a prize winning degree in Anatomical Science. I have management experience and have worked nationally and internationally in both the public and private sector. I am currently studying a masters in psychology to further aid my understanding of leaning and memory, which informs my teaching, particularly focusing on ADHD, ASD and Anxiety. This has allowed me to open business availability for 1:1 and small group tutoring for GCSE and A 'level Science.
I have over 20 years teaching experience, with my lessons consistently being graded "Outstanding." I have worked at a range of schools including a prestigious private school in Sydney, Australia and currently work at an Outstanding comprehensive school. I have provided tutoring for those who have gaps in their learning through illness as well as those aiming for the highest grades at A 'level. I have supported students with their successful applications for both medicine and Oxbridge, and am delighted when I meet previous students including researchers, doctors and veterinary surgeons.
Tutoring allows me to fully focus on the needs of the individual. I use my experience to present challenging concepts in accessible ways, always building on previous understanding. Much of a students' success is grounded in their ability to understand what is being asked of them. This is where a focus on exam technique using past paper questions comes in. Having prepared and marked exam papers, I am keenly aware of the importance of exam technique alongside the effective use of key terminology for exam success. Alongside the lesson I provide a set of class notes so that students can simply focus on the lesson. My lessons are conducted remotely, with the passcode sent to the parent and student before the lesson. Group lessons have become increasingly popular. Students are welcome to attend the sessions with a friend, with the passcode being sent to both. This builds both team spirit and makes the sessions more affordable.
